Better late then never....

Ok...I am so sick of this old blog... never want to update it....so I'm thinking about opening it up again! not many people come by anyway...I might as well make is public! :) it's less of a hassle....

Anyway, there are lots of things going on right now:

1) we are pregnant with kid #3....I'm not sure whether to call this little GIRL our 3rd of 4th. To be really honest, I feel like I lost a baby when I miscarried...so it seems weird for me to just say this is my number 3.... ANYWAYS we are thrilled!!!Could not be happier....even if it was a boy. I'm in love with little girls and so excited to have another beauty to dress up and to see grow up and understand her own little personality :) What a fun fun thing motherhood is!!!! (her name will be Julie by the way)

2) Isabelle is growing up too fast. She has SUCH AN AMZING imagination...you know the little girl from Toy Story 3- Bonnie? She's that kinda of girl....she can play with her toys and talk to them endlessly and she loves to just make up scenarios :) it's a lot of fun to watch her!! She is a talker. Talks all day with us or by herself (with toys). She has a hard time taking a nap now. I have to call them quiet time, and then after some playing she will give up on playing in the dark and just sleep. I know she still needs her naps...she gets CRANKY when she doesn't. She is also very interested in books and learning. She will ask me what the "written words" are. She wants to understand movies to a tee and keeps asking question when we are driving around town. It's the WHY and HOW stage....which I appreciate and want her to keep her curiosity for life. I have always wanted my kids to be like that. Another plus is that we have no TV at home...so when we watch movies is on the lap top...but since moving she spends a lot more time playing and being creative....so we are banning TV for her :) Izzy is also a little mommy. She will not let any kid take advantage or make her sisi cry. She will protect Bia like mama bear would :)
She is also bossy and dramatic. Gives me a HARD HARD time with clothes, where things have to match and she has to be "feeling it"to wear it. We are trying to work on it by giving her 2 options she can choose from each time. It seems to be getting better, slowly but surely. (PS: I never never ever taught her that, I dress myself in 5 minutes)

3) Bia is SO BIG and smart, and a talking little parrot. She repeats the end of every word Isabelle speaks. It's so much fun to just see her absorb the world thru her eyes. She is my trouble maker, hitter and explosive little girl. If she is gone 5 minures she is up to something, never massive, but certainly messy. She caught on to smacking her sister every time she doesn't get her way. So time out is a known concept to her. Isabelle will even come to me and say at times "mommy she did this could you please put her on time out?" (Isabelle motherly instincts right there).
She loves to brush her teeth, her pacifier, and M&m's. Have you ever seen a kid that can smell M&m's? That would be my daughter. Every time we go to the supermarket she will find some and ask for it. I rarely get it. I am a firm believer I am doing her a favor by not giving her everything she asks for :)

4) we moved to our own apartment. Did I share this before? Anyway we are out of my mother's place and we are getting along SO MUCH BETTER with her. Right now we are at the process of detox. So we disappeared from their house for a month and had sunday lunch with them. It was fun and all, but I love being home and having my own space. We are camping at our own apartment and there's not much to live in (remember we are still waiting for the container) but we are basically happy to be our own family again. With our own set of rules and priorities... OH BOY! WE ARE WELL!!!!!

5) I have been able to find the joy most of my days. I've had a renewed energy to be with the kids. I went through a FUNK and I can't really describe it well except I was depressed and tired and worn out all the time. I had no patience with the kids and life was just overall hard. Well, what do you know? scriptures and prayer really do work :) I have been asking to find the joy in the little moments and to be able to provide for my girls what they need. I am full of ideas and so excited to make this next 5 months so much fun before my Julie comes. :) I just wanted to take a moment to testify that Heavenly Father loves us and cares for us. Even though life is not on bit easier, at the same time it's like a weight has been lifted from me. I just want you all to know that if you are having a hard time remember to draw strength from the right source and things will fall into place. I have to remember that all the time :)

6) we are all currently sick (with colds and stuffed up like crazy) and that means pasta for lunch and lots of fruits and veggies. I have no energy to make anything else. So we live off fruits and fresh veggies. :) which ends up being very healthy anyways and is one of the reasons I LOVE being here. The food quality is SO MUCH BETTER and there's a HUGE variety, it blows my mind. At the same time I have to admit I would readily go back to the States for the life I had before and would start buying organics :) Food does not stop us from wanting to move from Brazil :)a ctually nothing really stops us :) hahahahahaha

I started this post a long time ago and because of my funk I just lately have been able to finish it...and now I am SO glad I did it...I was getting sick of not telling my friends news about our little family, this blog was D-U-S-T-Y :)

Pics to come :)))))

:)

So I don't have pictures yet...but I will post them tomorrow...I just wanted to dust this thing off and be grateful for what I have...there's no good in complaining right? I do appreciate the comments that were made though, they were so thoughtful and I really feel loved by it...I appreciate when my friends take the time to tell me how they feel and how I can handle what I am going thru... :)

THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Mat had eye surgery so NO MORE GLASSES!!!YAY for technology!!! I'm so happy for him...

Girls are doing awesome and Bia keeps learning more and more words...

The more I drive in SP, the more I am sure I want to live in a much smaller city...

Still living at my parents, which sucks - Idon't wish this on anyone, but things are looking promising with our lawyer. On Tuesday he will have more news for us. He talked to the lawyer that represents Freeway MOving in Brazil and said they have until then to give him the paper work he needs, otherwise he is going to literally bring them down. They have made so many mistakes already and he said a lot of them were illegal, he is suing customs and the company all together and we should have good news in the following weeks. I LOVE and appreciate how competente and "aggressive" my lawyer is. You can totally tell he knows what he is doing....AMEN!!!

Thanks agian for the love and support, we appreciate you!and if you stop by, PLEASE leave a comment...I don't bite :)

Something´s gotta give....

So I wish my post was all inspirational...but again we have had bad news from our container....and it looks like we will be doing some waiting around the house hold...customs is not out friend... I wish I could explain how I feel, but mostly I just don´t think I can feel anything else....I just don´t know how long I can live with this situation anymore....I wish I could see a light at the end of the tunnel and feel all faithful and warm inside....but I feel like I am stuck and hopeless...

No container, still living with my parents (for the past 3 weeks we have been " kicked out" of our temporary one-bedroom because my great-aunt wants to remodel and sell it) and so we are back to my parents house...

What am I supposed to learn through this??? any ideas out there?

New year...new hopes....new smile :)

So...I wanted to change the post even though i don't have a camera to post new pictures yet...Mat is gone to South Korea for work and he took the camera....which is awesome because I am in love with the country....MAN it's beautiful!!!!

How am I doing??better....baby hungry as ever, but we are holding off for a while...we'll see how nature goes from now on and I I will be ready (physically) for another baby soon enough. We thank you for your love, support and prayers...it has been a time of great pain, but a lot of comfort too.

Our stuff is about to get here and the apartment we are supposed to move into, is on it's way to being ready for us....I am SO EXCITED to have our apartment ready....Mat is coming home on THURS and we are paiting and finishing up anything that needs to be done....than cleaning it....out container should be here sometimes the end of this week of early next week, we are waiting to hear about it tomorrow...after almost an entire year, this is one the biggest blessings so far....but I know 2011 will be an eventful and exciting year for the Pretel's :)

I just wanted to say I am doing okay and that I am happy and I feel good about life :) thank you again....we love you all that cared about us, emailed, wrote messages on facebook and left messages here...it has been a great comfort for me :)

The girls are growing up and are very budy visiting grandma's new place...it has a condominium with swimming pools, a little forest, a playground and lots of fun stuff for them...so we are keeping them happy and busy....besides we have been eating our hearts out with fruits from this wonderful summer season (wonderful/humid/disgustingly hot summer season)...we just love and cherich them both SO MUCH!!! I am grateful for my little girls that bring so much to my life...

cheers :)

Healing

Healing is definitely one of the hardest process after a loss...I´m actually doing a lot better...but still think about the ultrasound, the first time we saw the baby and there was a heartbeat there...and then again, the second ultrasound, where the baby was bigger and no heart was found...just talking about it makes my heart break! I can´t believe we are going thru this...I can´t believe it!!!

I have gone from denial, to comfort, to denial again....to anger...and peace....and I´m not sure where I will be tomorrow....I´m not trying to compare losses here,I know that it must hurt so much more if you´ve had the baby, and lose a child that you´ve seen grown before your eyes...but still I´m shocked that all the plans I have made and envisioned for our family are shattered...

Little things hurt: going to the grocerie store and not being able to do to the priority line (pregnant ladies, old people, women with children etc), seeing pregnant bellies (which I just love), and finally yesterday a silly little thing that nobody would notice but really hurt. A friend of Mat´s family saw us at church and said "Oh! I didn´t know you guys were 4, I thought you had only one child, that´s awesome!" he didn´t say anything wrong, but at that point I was thinking "and I was supposed to be able to tell you now that we were going to be 5 shortly"...that stuck to me...and it still hurts....I really try not to think about the miscarriage, all the blood and the images of the baby that are stuck in my mind all day...but I especially think about it when I look at the girls...and see how perfect they are!

Isabelle often comes to me and says " mommy where did the baby in your belly go?" and I have to tell her over and over again that it´s with Heavenly Father and He´s taking care of our baby now...I´m not sure if that´s the right doctrine..but I sure don´t know what else I can tell her...

The other day she said she was going to find me another baby and sat on the computer pretending she was typing...I guess she thought googling "baby" would solve the problem...after a little while her veredict " mommy I can´t find you another baby!"...that was sweet of her!

I surely have a new reverence for life as I look at my girls and realize how delicate life is, I marvel at how they arrived on this Earth and how they were inside of me...from just almost nothing, to beautiful babies that bring so much happiness to my life! I marvel/admire/love/sqeeze/hug/ and thank God for my girls at my girls more often (a lot more often) now than before...I think I took the miracle of life for granted and I hope I never do that again...

Anyway...trying to heal...thank you for the prayers, support, love and kind words...when I am down, I go back to messages and emails that I have received...and I have to thank you for that...it really helps!I have wonderful friends...

much love,

Barb
